The BTEC National Award in Music Performance at Bodmin College is designed for students aged 16+ who wish to pursue a vocationally relevant qualification in the music sector. This sector is a dynamic area of the performing arts industry and many of its skills are transferable between the different areas of the larger genre. All students taking the BTEC Music Performance course will complete various projects, working to strict deadlines and delivering a final performance or music product. This is a skill that is vital in all areas of the performing arts and music industry. Units that will be covered include: Music Performance Brief, Music Composition Brief, Professional Practice in the Music Industry, Arranging Music Composing Music, Music Promotion, Solo Performance, Music Ensembles and Music Software Skills.
Students should have a GCSE at grade D or higher to obtain a place on this course. Students who have acheived a BTEC Level 2+ at Pass or Higher will also be considered. Entry can also be based on competence in the student’s instument or voice. The Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate is equivalent in size to one A level.
