The Performing Arts course at Bodmin College is a practically based qualification, backed up by research and written investigation. Although predominantly Drama and Theatre based, this course will suit you if you are studying one or more Arts disciplines, as there is plenty of scope for overlap and cross-curricular work. The course offers a vocational perspective on the Performing Arts Industries. Indeed as part of the course, you are expected to work as a ‘professional’ theatre company in warm-up, rehearsal and when in production. You need to be committed and prepared to work in extra-curricular hours. It is hard-working fun!
You should have a genuine commitment to theatre and be prepared to read and research independently and to take part in activities outside normal College hours as well as to visit the theatre regularly. A grade C or above in Drama at GCSE or a Merit/Distinction at BTEC level 2 offers a good foundation, but it is not essential to have studied Drama at KS4 for entry onto this course although some relevant experience in the Performing Arts is advantageous.
