It will be an exciting time for five Bodmin College students over the next couple of weeks as they have all secured interviews at either Oxford or Cambridge universities. This is the first time that 100% of Oxbridge applicants from the school have all received interviews. There is a real breadth of courses applied for as well. Bart has applied for Medicine, Ollie for engineering, Rebecca for Psychology, Jack for Law and Davina for Natural Sciences. Head of Sixth Form Joe Crane is delighted, but not surprised. “We have some exceptional students in the sixth form and they are so committed and focussed on what they want to do, that I was very confident of them excelling. Even so five interviews is the most we have ever had.” Principal Emmie Seward-Adams paid tribute to the work that staff put in to support the students. “We have a dedicated group of teachers that prepare the students for applications and interviews, trips are made to Oxbridge and the excellent teaching in sixth form classes all help to facilitate the success. When all is said and done however, it is very much a recognition of how gifted and hardworking these students are.” Results of the interviews will be released in January and if they are given offers there will be the final intensive block of work prior to the examinations in June.
